As you may or may not have noticed, I don’t have a ton of content yet on this site! Why, may you ask? It’s because, well… I don’t live in Milwaukee just yet!
I know, I know. I’m working on it. I’ve got great digs lined up and am moving in a week! I would LOVE to do a piece on the building I’m going to be living in because it’s pretty cool, but then you would know where to find me and… no offense, but I don’t like you that way. Of course, I will do the good old bachelorette pad tour as it’s my first real place all by myself and this girl is going to do it right, but that’s for another day!
Anyway, I’ve still been spending as much time in Milwaukee as I can lately as I’ve got some great people there and I only currently live an hour away. In the past seven years that I’ve been gone, though, there are so many new things that I need to try, do, see, eat, and drink!
So, here’s my short but sweet list of things I want to do this summer (I’m sure this will grow as I discover new things to do!):
Drink ALL the beer
Two of my great friends that I referenced above are none other than Mr. Milwaukee himself and his wife (aka my college roommate and bff)! Bill’s recent post about Hacienda Beer Co. has me feeling all kinds of ways about their brews, especially since it’s located at the old G. Daddy’s, which is amazing! I love their beer names like, Everything Eventually and It Just Does Weird Things. I’m a stout girl so I can’t wait to get my hands (mouth?) on a glass of Luxe and Reduxe while soaking in the sunshine.
Play with the putty-tats at Sip & Purr
I have always wanted to go to a cat cafe! Now that we have one in Milwaukee, I’m definitely going to book a spot as soon as I get a free weekend! Yes, I know I have two of my own cats to play with at home (and they don’t like to share me) but I have lots of love to share with all kitties who want it 🙂 Not to mention, their S’mores Pie and a Chai Latte sound pretty amazing on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
What’s great about Sip & Purr, like most cat cafes, is that the cats are up for adoption and are from Lakeland Animal Shelter, which does not use cages. It’s great that cats can roam freely in the shelter – why don’t more places do that?
Check out the Chudnow!
Between the Milwaukee Public Museum, Discovery World, and the Milwaukee Art Museum, the city has some great education time-wasters. However, there is one that I haven’t heard of until now – the Chudnow!
The mission of the Chudnow Museum of Yesteryear is to educate the community of Milwaukee about the city’s history during the period between the World Wars through the preservation, exhibition and interpretation of the collection of the late Avrum M. Chudnow.http://www.chudnowmuseum.org/mission-and-vision.html
While in Milwaukee not only do I want to soak in the drinks and food but I also want to learn more about the city’s history, and a visit to the Chudnow seems like the perfect place to start!
